4 Foods to avoid before flying

Flying can make many anxious with the endless baggage lines and security checks. However, if you consume the wrong foods, you may have a lot more to deal with on your flight. Here are 4 foods to avoid before flying.

Hamburger with fries – Avoid eating a greasy burger followed by fries and a soda. This can cause you to bloat and feel quite uncomfortable in a cramped seat. Therefore move far away from your airport McDonalds or Burger King and choose some water with a pack of nuts instead.

The Gas Giants – It is advisable to stay away from the gas giants, which are onions, cauliflower, cabbage, beans, and lentils. These vegetables can make you retain more water, which can make you feel bloated.

Alcohol – Alcohol may help flyers feel less fear when flying and help them relax on board. However, avoid drinking alcohol as its dehydrating properties will double the dehydrating properties felt on board. If you must have a drink, follow it with a glass or two of water.

Carbonated Beverages – Carbonated beverages are often offered on board. However, these beverages can cause cramping and bloating, which can be aggravated by consuming a meal.

Studies have shown that a 16-hour fast before a long flight, has helped to reduce the symptoms of jet lag. This is because if you make your body feel like you’re starving, your body may remain awake till your next meal, which should be at your destination.
