When you’re traveling your usual diet and exercise plan tends to take a back seat. However, maintaining your routine will not only help you enjoy your holiday, but it will make it easier for you to jump back into your usual routine when you return home. Here are a few tips on how to eat well and stay active while you travel.
Eating well on a plane – Start off by packing some healthy snacks like nuts, protein bars and fruit from home. Carrying snacks will keep you full while you wait to board or wait in transit. Once on the plane, opt for a healthy sandwich and water instead of a full meal, coffee or an alcoholic beverage.
Eating well on a road trip – Start your trip with a cooler full of healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, homemade sandwiches and water. If you stop at a rest stop, choose to have a coffee or tea instead of a shake or a smoothie. If you need to eat at a diner, choose a vegetarian option as they will have fewer
Staying active at your hotel – If you choose a hotel with a fitness center or pool, you can get some exercise in the morning before you start your day. If your hotel does not have a fitness center, pack a skipping rope or take a few exercise videos that you can complete in your hotel room.
