Europe might be one of the smallest continents out there but it sure offers its good deal of incredible places that are worth a visit. The list below enumerates some of them but is far from being exhaustible.
Porto and Douro Valley, Portugal
This used to be once a peaceful riverside city and was mostly known for the fortified wines that it produces, the Porto. The city has emerged as a particularly artful one and is getting quite some attention as a value destination. The place offers several big museums that might be interesting to visit. For instance there is the Museum of Contemporary Arts, the Museu de Arte Contemporanea and it hosts some great vanguard exhibitions. At the same time in the city the Rem Koolhaas popular Casa da Musica offers great music the whole year round and that even includes some free outdoor concerts during summer. The city also offers some great vineyards and restaurants.
Places offering antique charms are back in trend again and the same can be said for Budapest. The city offers the unique experience of ruin pubs (also known as romkocsma) and kertek (garden bars). You would also be able to see trendy watering hole in unrenovated ancient buildings and some out of this world wild plant scapes. Restaurants in Budapest offer retro style food and coffee shops are rustic and cozy.
The primary attractiveness of Iceland is that it is affordable. But that is not the only reason why this place deserves a visit. Iceland also offers wonderful views of geysers, waterfalls and lava fields. You might also be able to catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis.
